San Jose de Gracia - Orchid Show - Feb. 3rd, 2018

San Jose de Gracia Church

We had waited a year to visit the San Jose de Gracia Orchid Show....every since some of our Growers Group members had reported last year to us that it was a 'must see' event.

So with the coordination efforts of Elizabeth Moore and Jeanne Greene we were soon on a charted van heading towards Mazamitla.  I love day trips and this was one for the books.

The publicity campaign and posters this year were beautiful.  A fecund woman surrounded by and holding orchids was the primary image.

Plaza

The orchid show was held in the town plaza.  I had heard of San Jose de Gracia because of their dairy products...and was happpy to find a lovely, organized, clean and beautiful town seeped in tradition.

Lunch

We decided to stop for lunch at the adjacent food stand.  Although humble in appearance the food was extraordinarily wonderful.  We dined on blue corn sopes, quesadillas of mushroom and rajas, various meat dishes in lovely sauces and thirst quenching aguas frescas.

 Shopping Area

The exhibition and display area was in the plaza, and right adjacent was the shopping area.  We browsed and shopped to our heart's content.  Everyone brought home treasures.

If you are in the area next year, I highly recommend this fantastic event.
